GETTING THERE

Driving is the best option for reaching the campsite and the start of the cone adventure. Please check out this Event Forum to share a lift and offer one.

There is a National Express Coach Service from London to Ross on Wye.

There are no convenient train services to Ross on Wye.

ACCOMMODATION

Tents will be provided as required and requested. You are welcome to bring your tent for your privacy as we have a supply of three-person tents, which we allocate to two people, and a few ten-person tents for 6-7 people.

Tents pre pitched ready for guests arrival

The choice of the campsite is restricted as most won't allow groups, campfires and BBQ, which is the essence of camping. The upside of our location is that we get to paddle the better parts of the River Wye and have ample locations to dine out at on Saturdays. The supermarkets are easily accessible for buying beers, etc.

FOOD

Meals are provided according to the inclusions below. If advised in advance, most dietary requirements can be accommodated.

Fridays BBQ provides a hearty meal. Three BBQs are operated: the first is for vegans and vegetarians, the second is for white meat, and the third is for red meat.

Saturday’s breakfast is the AAA porridge with fruit salad accompanied by coffee, tea and juice. Sunday’s breakfast is a full English prepared by a local pub.

Dinner on Saturday is at leisure in Ross on Wye. There are many venues to choose from, and we will prompt people to prebook the venue in advance.

WHAT TO EXPECT

AAA has hosted this event for over a decade. Many people keep returning year after year to enjoy this fun social event in such a beautiful location.

This event is fully catered, perfect for jumping on board, paddling, swimming, having fun & relaxing around the campfire. The canoes are open Canadian-style canoes for three persons per canoe.

DIFFICULTY RATING

This trip is designed for the novice paddler on a safe and calm river. Capsizes are rare but possible, so remember that you and your property are at risk while on the water.

We usually accommodate three people per canoe, ensuring that there are enough people to steer the canoe efficiently and safely down the river.

WEATHER

This is England, and the weather can be varied. We strongly recommend reviewing the weather a few days prior and judging for yourself. But we strongly recommend bringing a waterproof jacket, sun hat, and suncream.

REVIEWS

AAA is fortunate to host some amazing people at our events. Many have met on our trips and gone on to build lifelong friendships. We are always grateful for reviews and feedback to improve our events. Please check out the reviews we have received on the following platforms.

NOT INCLUDED

The price does not include:

  • Transport to the destination

  • Provision of sleeping bags & roll mats beds

  • Saturday nights dinner

KIT LIST

Some people tend not to have read the list on past trips. Forget sleeping bags, roll mats, and parts of their tents. Others forgot sun hats and sun cream, resulting in pointless sunburn and another lost sunglasses which fell overboard!!

Based on years of experience running this and other events, we have prepared a full kit lift for you.

Please check out the link.

OPTIONAL EXTRAS

There are none for this event, but it could include single-room supplements, etc.
